Community Pause – Joshua Tree
April 30, 2018 - 7:30 pm - May 2, 2018 - 12:00 pm UTC+0
FreeThere will be a free, surround sound community concert on Monday, April 30 at 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM at the Mohave Desert Land Trust feature musical works composed from field recordings made in Joshua Tree. The concert will be followed by Garth and Sabine discussing their work to deepen our listening skills and to bring the sounds of the desert SW to a wider audience.
Their work with the Listen Project involves long-term immersion into a place, taking site-specific recordings and then tracking this data over time to make connections with the acoustic ecology of a place and climate changes. We will also brainstorm ways in the the local community can continue to support their sound research with Joshua Tree National Park.
There will also be a listening workshop and field recording workshop on Tuesday May 1 and 2. Stay tuned for times and locations on the Listen(n) Project’s Facebook Page
This free concert and community dialogue is funded by an Invoking the Pause grant, with in-kind support from the Mojave Desert Land Trust, Joshua Tree Living Arts, JT Lab, and Joshua Tree National Park. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible!
