This Friday to Sunday we will be in Joshua Tree, making field recordings in Barker Dam and other parts of the park in the early morning and early evening and also giving a public talk and training some new volunteers to make regular sound recordings in the park for the Listen(n) database
The Listen(n) project has been selected to be included as one of JT Lab’s Artist Programs in Joshua Tree National Park for 2017-2018. The committee noted out commitment to supporting the missions of both JT Lab and Joshua Tree National Park.
Capitalizing on the power and beauty of sounds in the park, sound artists Garth Paine and Sabine Feisst offer 2-hour workshops that teach both listening skills and field recording techniques. These workshops include creative activities such as sonic meditations and sound mapping.

Join us for a free, surround sound community concert on Monday, April 30 at 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM at the Mohave Desert Land Trust feature musical works composed from field recordings made in Joshua Tree. Then on May 1 and 2 join our listening workshop and our field recording workshop. All free
Please join us January 6 at 3PM at Browns Ranch Trailhead, McDowell Sonoran Preserve for a free guided sound walk led by Dr. Sabine Feisst from the Acoustic Ecology Lab @ASU Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts.
This two day field trip is being organized by Dr. feisst for her Desert Music class and will feature the artist Glenn Weyant who has a long history of performing the border wall and engaging in activism around the fortification of the border. We will spend a full 24 hours in the park including overnight (Feb. 14-15, 2020), and will make field recordings and undertake various listening and other musical exercises
