Part of the Acoustic Ecology Labs mission is to use the arts to raise awareness of environmental challenges and to equip the community to engage with these major challenges. We run listening workshops, field recording workshops and creative placemaking workshops in the communities, based in nature preserves. The recordings are then used to make small sound or musical works as a reflection of their personal response. In addition, the Listen(n) project has commissioned six international artists to compose multichannel immersive musical works using only the sound in the Listen(n) database.
You can read about those works here. The concert program is available for your community upon request.
Garth Paine also offers courses in this area such as Soundscape Ecology For more information please contact us
